We have become very good at measuring AI. Adoption, maturity, ROI, productivity. None of it tells us whether AI is making the organisation smarter.

We have gotten very good at measuring AI. Adoption, maturity, ROI, productivity. These KPIs matter, but I am not sure they capture what AI is quietly changing inside our organisations.
AI generates outputs. We act on interpretations of those outputs. People decide whether those interpretations deserve to be trusted. Managers arbitrate. Boards remain accountable.
The erosion nobody measures
But what happens if employees stop questioning? If managers stop exercising judgment? If executive committees optimise performance without really understanding how decisions are being made? The risk becomes the gradual erosion of an organisation's capacity to think.
Maybe the next generation of executive dashboards should measure something else entirely: the Organizational Intelligence Index, an organisation's capacity to preserve judgment while scaling intelligence.
